Richard Clark Amplifier Challenge FAQ

Do all amplifiers sound the same? If so are we wasting time building and buying different amps? In a blind test thousands failed to detect any difference according to the report you can read in the link.

What is your opinion on this Dr. Pass?

I am not Nelson, but it looks to me that, the guy has designed a test to provide a certain outcome so he can make money.

I agree though that quite a few amplifiers that you can buy from a shop do sound the same.

I would love to hear what John Curl would say about this. John is definitely not shy in speaking his mind.

"Do all amplifiers sound the same?" No. I've tried that (blind test, two amps, three audio buddies), difference easely spoted . Two of us were able to spot A or B INTERCONNECT cable (blind test, five tries, without wrong answers). Cheers.

Pass Labs is obviously producing just one amp

same one as First Watt amp

was a big **** fight over this for years.
bob carver even came out and said he could make his amp sound like any other amp on the planet within 24 hours.
he then proved it..........
I personally believe that amps do sound different.
some times a small difference, sometimes big.
