That's the fully constructed Mez thing passing signal through its layout and relays and Alps pot. Not some direct proto test board. Don't know the signal levels used or more details. For one thing the noise floor and hum levels on its PSUs is fine.

Hi,

The pot is a 20k Alps and the test level was a bit low -6dBu. I'll try to do more measurements with more level (up to +14dBu).

Regards
Suso

P.S. I tried before at +4dBu and the measures was very close.

Is the the load 600 Ohm as in dBu pro spec?

P.S. Most studio gear run at +4dBu so if it was OK for that level, its enough. Commercial is -10. Don't bother for more.

200k load on the Tek (the choices are 150 Ohm-600 Ohm-200k).

Good. Because its unlikely someone will use a 600 Ohm amp here. Was the volume pot fully open?

edit: I wonder, did you ever stick the Mez in a pro studio monitoring system to listen a bit?

Yes, fully open.

I choose 200k because I'm using an F5 and is near (half).

If you want a specific test, let me know, I'll try to do.

Regards

Edit :-): I have plans for do a dual DCB1 Hodrod on the same chassis (one for channel) (all symmetric) for control the studio monitoring. I'm very very impressed with the 200mA DCB1 sound. But in the new one I'll try to go to 500mA by using a power amp chassis (2 or 3 unit)

Your FFT tests are a fine gamut thanks. If you will ever run a tough subjective test like a live voice direct mic feed from an Avalon mic pre or Voxbox between a digital desk or Mez A/B, possibly with 3rd party sound engineers as participants, I will be glad to know the outcome.

Sounds like a hot plan. Good luck and let us know.

I have just put together an F5 - and I like it! What drew my attention to it was the simplicity of the circuit. My preamp has a lot of gain and my speakers are fairly efficient so there's more than ample volume.

Someone then recommended the DC B1, because the circuit is simple as the F5. Has anyone used a B1 with the F5? I'm a bit concerned that there won't be enough gain. It may mean that I go for new speakers.
