Many will find that any "pre-amp" that has an optional +6dB, +12dB gain useful for those Sources that are relatively low output.

And most will find they rarely need to use anything other than +0dB of extra gain.

I have in mind to investigate on such a versatile pre. Say having a DCB1 plus a good simple circuit cell with gain on same pcb. A relay to choose which one is employed etc. But a cell with gain that will still resemble the DCB1 when in action is a difficult find. Will see.

Salas,
I have already built the Preamp you are looking for. It is a combination of the DCB1 (mez) and the "Super Simple Preamp" . I have a switch which can include or exclude the "SSP" which will add gain if needed (not often) to the chosen recording. Gain can be changed with different resistors. I have not noticed any denigration in sound, although some may argue against having the "chips" in the circuit. (hence the switch) This pre is in front of my F5 and it sounds fantastic on quality recordings. Not forgiving of poor recordings though.

I will be modding a marantz CD-53 and one of the mods boosts output gain so I believe I should be ok also plan on using it all with PMC Db1i clones which I think should have roughly 90-92db SPL once done.

Finished my mesmerize with 10R hotrod. Have it playing on the burner stereo. Nothing has burst into flames yet. What else I should check before hooking it up to the big stereo?

Very little DC offset on both its audio outputs should indicate its safe to hook up on the better gear.

With the voltmeter set to 200m measured from ground to left then ground to right on the outputs and got 1.0 and .8 respectively.

Virtually nil then. Alright, if you can hear the relays clicking on and off as they are supposed to also, there is no danger. Just know there is no DC from a source it can pass to a DC coupled power amp.

Excellent. It'll be going into a GFA-535....in the next ten minutes. Have heard the relays clicking on and off. Thank you for a wonderful project . Should mention now, the DCB1 will be used with the aforementioned GFA-535 ( which I believe is DC coupled ) and a SCHIIT bifrist DAC that is for sure DC coupled. Should I take precautions of some kind?

measure DC output when the DAC is attached, but dcb1 not connected to the amp.
