The INT-30.5 version is the same power amplifier as the XA30.5, and it
appears that people are happy with it.

Note that the XA30.5, XA100.5, XA150.5 and XA250.5 all have the same
output stage circuit - they differ in the power supplies, heat sinking, and
the bias current of the amplifier. The performance differences are a function
of those things. Each idles at about the same temperature, and thus dissipates
the same wattage.

I favor the lower wattage Class A amplifiers into the more difficult loads,
as the higher bias current tends to sound better at ordinary levels.

Hello. I don't mean to revive a old thread, but I had a related question. I'm using the Aleph0 with the thiel 3.6, and I love the combination. Mr. Pass, thank you for your personal advice a few years back. I really appreciate it!

I am thinking about upgrading the amp, and am looking at the XA series as a natural progression. I'm like the size of the XA30.5 (In my home in Japan) but was reluctant because of the class-A power difference. (75w vs 30w)
Mr. Pass made a comment about preferring lower wattage Class-A amps(the XA30.5 I presume) for difficult loads, which surprised me.

Would the XA30.5 be sufficient or optimal for the Thiel 3.6?
