Which transistors?

I am considering building a Pass design but not sure which. This would be my first amp build. So here I am in Akihabara, the electronics district of Tokyo on business. I found a shop with plenty of Toshiba 2SK170BL and GR. Am still trying to find the 174's, though. I am wondering what is the best choice for me to get? Or is there another one altogether? Thanks for the advice.

First you got to have an answer to that question - or, at least, define your needs and preferences (what's your source, speakers, room size, what sort of music you usually listen to, how loud you listen, name some amps you heard and liked).

2sk170BL and 2SJ74BL are what you need to get most of the jobs done.

Most amps use irfp240/9240 for the output, but Toshiba 2sk1530 and 2sj201 are very nice and are compatible with some adjustment to bias.
