Well it works, and I'm so happy with how the PCBs turned out as this was my first PCB attempt.
Just to make sure my PCB layout was right and I hadn't got the schematic wrong, I lashed up a channel with only two IRFP240s, and no input fet matching or any real care taken to assemble the PCB neatly...and it worked! Admittedly the output was pretty lousy power wise, and I think this is because of the two missing IRFP240s, the relatively low output of the ipod I was using as a source, the low gain of the Aleph design and probably the nasty little speaker too. But the sound was clear and crisp and pretty nice. 90mV of DC offset with unmatched fets, and 0.45V across my source resistors. Not too shabby. Very much looking forward to getting the final PCBs stuffed and adding the extra output fets! Last edited by hifinerd; 30th August 2010 at 12:59 PM. |

Oh, one quick question.
I used 0.25W resistors and 0.5W zeners throughout. Are these ratings sufficient? I see everyone else seems to use 0.5-0.6W resistors and 1W zeners. Is there any reason for this? Thanks, Greg. |

You're good, but you should only be using 2 sense Rs.
