aleph x power supply question

I have a good sized transformer that in a power supply, would give either 16 or 32 volt rails.

32 volt rails would result in a big amp with an awful lot of bias current running through it. Could I use 32 volt rails and bias the amp for 30 or 40 watts of output power??

In my readings I see that Nelson Prefers the higher rails for the Aleph X.

Or am I ahead just using the 16 volt rails and biasing fully for 16 volt rails.

I would say that 16 volts is a better option.

My AX has 14,5 V rails. Without load it can achieve 18V peak before clipping. Than:
Urms=18/1,41=12,7V
Prms= 12,7x12,7/8 (for 8 ohm load) = 20,15 W
This power is maximum what we could get if the bias current would be enough.
IMO with your 16 V rails the power will be a little bit more only.
But from the other side 36V is too much...
