Read the BZLS article. It performs very well single ended IN and OUT.

I have read that article, and it is a fine thing I am sure. But when peeling potatoes you might not find a swiss army knife the right tool
I think the performance of the two circuits are very close used single ended in/out, and with some PSU changes the BoZ is both simpler and fully up to the BZLS...
I think the SSTART will be best upgrade from BoZ if the JFET sound is attractive...or going tube way with basically BoZ circuit...I have some 12BH7A waiting for proper use...
