I seem to be down a couple dB in one ear, or near enough that I need to shift the volume slightly to the right to get a good central image. So, in building my balanced version of the B1, I want to add mild attenuation to the left channel, say, 2dB. (Note that this is for a BALANCED version, so some sort of shunt might work.) Can someone tell me a simple way to do this? And, better yet, give me a formula to use in calculating the R value(s) in case 2dB isn't the right number? I may use a simple switch to give me a couple options....
Thanks in advance. |

Use a pot as a gain control in that channel. You can reset it any time you feel it's not right.
Formula? Well you convert dB into voltage ratio and then it's a simple resistive divider. A decrease of 1 dB is about 10% in voltage. 3 dB is 29.3% reduction. It's not linear so you have to take the antilog of the dB after dividing by 20. I think I said that right... |
