Hi All,
Just starting to throw together a Pearl and found that some of the RIAA filter caps are obsolete as of 2008 (at least according to digikey). That is, the Panasonic P series P3473-ND 0.047uF, 50v P3334-ND 0.33uF, 50V Although digi still has the P3124-ND 0.12uF, 50v I checked out Mouser and a few others but can't find any. Anyone know where to get them or suitable replacements? Thanks, Jeff PS I'm assuming the Pearl 2 has the same RIAA section but a new source for the caps |

Borbelyaudio has some of the ECQ-P 0.33uF/50V but at 3 euro each!
The Digikey catalog page lists some cross references: Sprague: 715P Westlake: 173/174 Mepco: 719E1/719H1 Secor: PFDS/PFDR Roderstein: KP1835 Wima: FKP CSF Thompson: PL/PS Rubycon: PP Nisseip: APS/APA Mouser carries the Sprague 715P at .33uF/200V but these are the orange drop ones and I was under the impression they aren't meant for filters. Any other hints or suggestions? Surely, I'm not the only one who's run into this? ... I know, I know ... stop calling me Shirley ... Cheers, Jeff |

Digikey has the Vishay MKP416 pp caps and Mouser the Wima FKP2 pp caps, both better than Panas IMHO.

Hi Massimo, thanks for the help.
The Vishay MKP416 are metallized polypro whereas the Pan ECQP and Wima FPK2 are not. Mouser's Wima FPK2 only go up to 0.033uF and I need 0.33uF. Cheers, Jeff |

An Aussie member reported the MKP416 as a very good sounding cap.
Yes, Wimas are film and foil, but you can mix them (i.e. C17 = 333nF = 100nF x 3 MKP416//33nF FKP2) |
