Here is what I call the Snow De-Lite
I have been stuck at work for 48 hours because of the snow storm hitting Pennsylvania, Maryland and the rest of the Northeast. Luckily, I had some time to read the De-Lite article and I started digging around my junk pile at work. I found some IXYS IXFK73N30s from a bad motor control board and then searched for the remaining resistors, caps, and light bulbs. I found what I needed. Power supply is two 12 volt high current batteries in series for 24 volts. Source resistor is a 2 ohm 20 watt wire wound. Bulbs are four 40 watt tubular bulbs. Everything else is the same. Attached is a picture and it is a bit hacky, but it works. The build quality is not as nice as my Zen Lite, but hey for an hour's work...it took my mind off of the snow. I also included a picture of the front of the hospital where I work. Nelson, thank you for another fun project! Tomorrow...hopefully home and begin digging out! Dave |

Clever way to while away the time... and from a broken motor control, you say. Got to love the DIYer.

Nice!
Snow-Cooled-De-Lite or Ice-De-Lite ![]() Regarding Afternoon De-Lite, I'd do it, but I need two essentials: 1. The unobtanium transistor 2. A spare afternoon |

I would post the "Afternoon De-Lite", but I am afraid I would get banned for it!
