AS I am lingering behind most of you, I am endevoring to build an F1. The questions are can I sub BC557 Or 2N5501 for ZTX550 and IRFP640 for non essential IRFP240????Or all of them for that matter Knowing that they do not dissapate heat as well as the IRFP240.
Thanks for your replies, Elwood

Dear my friend, I try to answer for you.
As if I would have read it many times, the ZTX550 not critic, its substitution is easy. Nelson diverted a truckful of quantity presumably the ZTX, uses it because of that. A pleasant one is a transistor otherwise. I can judge it, it irfp240 and it irfp640 only the package the difference. According to me if you do not exceed the 25 watt dissipation you may not have problem with it. Gyuri

Why do you want to use the irf640 instead of the irfp240. That larger package will
get rid of the heat so much better I don't think the savings in cost would be worth going with the 640. |
