Anyone remember Corey Greenberg's "Passive Preamp" from Stereophile? (also referenced here)
Too bad Stereophile canned Corey, blackballed Bob Carver, and all that other hanky-panky years back. Ugh. Hi-Fi political hacks. Anyway, has anyone compared the Pass B1 discrete buffer with an integrated open-loop buffer, such as the Burr-Brown BUF600, BUF624, or Analog Devices BUF03? |

I built Corey's buffer and used it for several years. Now I use a goldpoint switched attenuator, and a passive crossover on the top end and an opamp crossover on the bottom end. Recently I inserted the "Corey" buffer to see what it sounded like. The sound was noticeably "hard" and edgey. I did not care for it and removed it quickly. I have not tried any modern buffers, but I am in the early planning stages of a preamp with some gain. I will try the BOSOZ since I bought a circuit board some years back. I may try the B1 as well.
