Has someone compared these two amps?
SA/4 is for me the best choice but... what sonic differences with SA/2 monoblocks? Is changing an upgrade or a downgrade? Cheers |

It's been so many years that I can't remember. They
are pretty similar, though.

Well, I listened a SA/4e many years ago and I loved it so much.
Now at last I've found one, but once I've found a pair of sa/2 almost half the price of the SA/4e. Unfortunately I haven't the opportunity to listen them... But if their sound and their characteristics are equal to SA/4e the problem is already solved! Another thing: how do the two units to be very similar if between them there are about ten years apart. Thanks for the clarifications |

I didn't say equal. I said similar.
They are different in details, mostly front end, and of course the SA2's are monoblocks.

My SA2s are wonderful. I don't think you can go wrong with a pair of Sa2s or SA1s. These were and are still fantastic music movers.

Can the Sa/2s operate at both 220V than 110V?

Thanks.
What is the procedure to convert them? Does it is very difficult to do? Last edited by Mywing; 4th January 2010 at 05:45 PM. |

Jon Soderberg <vintageamp@comcast.net> or Threshold Audio, Inc. <support@thresholdaudio.com> Either will provide you a price (should be around $500 for the conversion only). I would also state the age of the AMPS as they probably need some upgrading and/or overhauling. If you have them overhauled (recommended), it may cost between $750 and $1,200 and that price may include the conversion (good deal). I strongly suggest having the upgrade done as it brings the AMPS to at least the original spec. But contact either POC and they will take good care of your SA/2s. Good Luck.
