Another part selection question: What heatsinks you use for regulators? All I can find for TO-220 look big.

I use those extruded ones with the mounting pins. Buy them as tall as will fit.

that what I was planning to do, but their length — the smallest dimension in the cross section parallel to the board plane, is about 25mm which is too big. It will bump into 0.1uf caps or even into big lytics.

I used Digikey part HS303-ND. They are smaller, but more than enough. They only get lukewarm in my Pearl.

Yes, they will work.

I have part P14255-ND from Digikey in mine. A bit large due to the high voltage rating, but they work fine.

Just ordered my boards with mosfets and power transformer. Mouser and RS parts orders to follow, enclosures eventually from HiFi 2000.

Having built solid state mic amps, tube guitar and bass amps, compressors and microphones I'm pretty excited to be building a phono stage.\

I've recently dusted off my systemdek and am having a great deal of fun working through my vinyl.

I'm hoping the Pearl lives up to my expectations. I somehow think it will lead to a rather lengthy upgrade path.
