Salut Robin,
I had the chance to listen to both amps with Wadia digital frontend, TW Raven, Graham Phantom and Koetsu Rosewood on X ONO and a X0.2 preamp as analogue frontend. Both poweramps were setup with either B&W N800D (far from being my favorites), Audio Physics Medea (much more like it) and Wilson Alexandria. Personally I would go for the XA200.5! On any of those speakers the XA200.5 had a slight advantage, musically more involving...my own 2c... ![]() But on the other hand, we are talking really big rollers here... |

Hey Robin,
the XA200.5 is a Class A product as well. It will not work throughout all powerrequirements in full Class A and revert to A/B but this is not noticiable. For this, I highly recomend the following article: Leaving Class A | Pass Laboratories In my experience, the label "pure Class A" will haunt your mind and you expect a more perfect performance out of this iso an amp reverting to Class A/B at some stage. And lets face it, at certain volume levels, you will have much more distortion from your speakers (yes even the Wilsons! @ 90dB+) and your listening environment, than any good Class A/B amplifier will ever produce. |
