Anyway, I'm using the ALPS while I wait for a 20K stepped attenuator from our Oriental friends.

In the meantime the B1 has now has Obbligato 10uF PIOs fitted as C101, C201.

They do take up some serious real estate but they can be made to fit quite comfortably.

I'm just burning them in to see how they sound.

Those huge black cans...are those electrolytic capacitors?
I read that caps should always be standing up not laying down, since all the electrolyte stays on just one side with time.I am not sure if this will affect in someway. I had mines like that ,but I had to get new ones to fit inside chassis since mine were too big to be standing up.
 
Electrolytics would be useless in Space !!!

And portable CD players.

And Mobile Phones.

And military aircraft.

If we push aside the Semi-conductor vs Glass Tube debate - nearly all P2P wiring lays electrolytics on their sides.

MJF - do you have a link to the article. It must be worth a read for a laugh.
