Maybe Nelson might need to get out of California.

Can't imagine Calif. driving away a tax paying employer?
What prevents consumers from buying any of the items online (which usually is cheaper) in the first place?
That was my 1st thot when i heard about the TVs.

A stretch to compare, if you look at how many people own a tv or multiple tv's and how many hours they play it may not be unreasonable to mandate some power consumption rules. We finally have cars routinely getting in the upper 20 mpg and that would have not happened if manufactures were forced to move in that direction. By comparison how many people actually own a class A amp and the number of hours they used it. If Nelson had anyway near the market share TV's have I am sure he would happily comply with energy compliance requirement ( the man is a saint but come on money is money).

Would probably be better for them to just shut the TV off and do something else...read a book...go outside...something
There are always loopholes:
Idea 1: Add a CA kill switch to lower the bias or to shut off part of the output stage.
Idea 2: Swtich from class A amplifier production to musical space heater production.
Good ideas. In fact, I wonder if we could add a rotary pot to the volume control that raises, or lowers, bias with volume?

Pass Labs and First Watt are already out of California, as I believe they are incorporated in Nevada.
It's not a lot different over here in the so called Eurozone
They are going to ban the sale of less efficient plasma TV's, we already have bans on certain lightbulbs, IE you can't buy a 60W or above incandescent bulb - they have to be so called "energy saving" fluorescents.
20MPG You'd be in the highest tax bracket for road tax in the UK. Not sure what you pay for fuel but here it's now £5 gallon + so about $8.5 as your gallons are smaller. Here they expect cars to do 50+ MPG, the more MPG the cheaper the tax
You think you got it bad

As I read this, it says that consumer electronics amps are not subject to these conditions.

I don't even get that Granted, I don't drive the E-150 anywhere near what I used to now...
Ummm... Coloradosound, I am curious are you trolling for something?
It does not seem like this has much if anything to do with anything Pass.
You posted another thread with much the same theme... seems to me this belongs in another section of the site, if anywhere...
Just my opinion.

Buddy of mine in California bought a big Plasma this year to get in ahead of the ban. It's amazing!
Last month I bought Panasonic 58" V10 plasma because of the rumors that they would be regulated out of existance.
Picture is stunning.
