B1 layout question

Looking at the B1 pcb layout, why this a bit odd groundplane? Why the odd pads for the smoothing caps C1 and C2? Why are all four holes connected to the chassis and signal ground?

Any story behind this besides "it sounds better"?

Hi P-A,

I remember well Wayne's reply some years ago, why he used hatched ground planes instead of solid ground planes in the XOno. His reply was along the lines of, he just prefers the looks.

I guess there's not always a sacred secret behind every detail. In audio a lot works well, as it's not critical like for RF-stuff, but you of course know that.

Have fun, Hannes
