So I was finally able to make a comparison on the DIY Aleph 5 and a real Aleph 5.
With the shorting plug out of real A5, there is no difference I can hear. What is crazy is I jumpered the neg signal in to ground on my DIY A5. With the jumper installed on the real A5, it is clearly more gain (6db) now the front end of my DIY A5 has the input of the A60, not the A5, as I wanted the higher input impedance. Was there A difference between gain of the A5 and the A60? Could this Be the difference I am hearing? I built an amp A/B switch from ESP and can now compare amps head to head real time. I think I may like the Aleph over the KSA50 now...
