SR-1, Bravissimo Nelson
Dear Mr. Nelson, I hear recently your last PassLabs loudspeaker, the SR-1; your work is impeccable, with less than a week of uninterrupted burning the sound is incredible, the dynamic nuances are marvelous, but you know all about your babies after total burning, I can't tell you nothing new.
Can you tell us the virtues, and trade-offs that you find, and why you pick the Seas Excel drivers over the others excellent brands?
Can you do the same with the crossover parts? In the manual say that you pick, Solen, Ersa, Kimber capacitors and Mills.
The Solen capacitors are in the signal path or only in the impedance correction circuit?
Thanks for advance and excuse my limited English.

The one and only
Thanks very much. There are only a few pair out there, but we are
getting very gratifying feedback on them.
I could write about the issues you bring up at length, but I am getting
ready to travel, so it will have to wait.
Most of what you hear is simply the quality of the SEAS drivers, and I
think that for this purpose there are none better. The rest of the
product is designed to integrate them harmoniously.
The crossover system is pretty unique in this regard, and to answer
your question, Solen capacitors are used for the larger polypropylene
values (400 uF for example), and Kimber for the smaller.
Of special interest is the loudspeaker's impedance curve which is
particularly flat with respect to amplitude and phase, and which
preserves good damping character for the drivers at all frequencies.
