Hi Peter,

I'm wondering which amps you consider the best sounding since you've built just about everything.

Thanks

I use Zv9 in my bi-amped main system and F5 in a secondary system. The other 2 workshop systems use Gainclones.

I never compared directly Zv9 and F5, but presently liked them both equally. The GC are not that far behind, but properly built/modified, FW amps have certain advantage

So for AlephJX stereo setup, we'd need 4 AlephJ boards and 2 of the X daughter boards?

That's correct: one board set will include 2 AJ channels and X daughter board separated by scoring lines.

Sure, but if the boards will be popular I can always reorder more; lead time is usually 2 weeks.

Just out of curiousity, since this seems to be a popular project: Did anyone plan to build a proto? The X'ed homebrew amps are notoriously tweakers amps, so the newb to intermed DIY'er will have their hands full with something like this Especially when adding more output-devices!
If a hundred boards are being shipped, its just as well to ensure that implementation is pretty easy. Never saw that yet with an x'ed homebrew, though. J-fet input is even more trouble. It can be done, but its not a beginners job to make the amp balance out to zero DC's at the output.
The exception is CheffDeGaars UGS amps. They just work!

I have already half way populated A30 boards and assembling front end X board p2p is not a big deal, so prototype could be after all a good idea.

Peter,
Aside from having fewer output devices what other major differences will there be between the XJ and the AlephX besides the jfet frontend.
If my memory serves me correctly the J is a hot running little amp.

The shipping charges overseas for a priority package approach 10.00 U.S. The domestic U.S price is 4.50 approx. I would be willing to distribute here if you would like to keep prices down.

Tad

I get much better shipping rates over here.

I don't see any other major differences between those amps.
