hi, i've been planning to build the b1 buffer, but it is kind of hard to get sk170 here, meanwhile i have some sk30's in hand, can i use them directly? thanks

they're pretty eeny weeny ( read - looow xconductance ) comparing to 2SK170 ;
better make "my" Poor Man B1 variant - with J309 or J310 ( search in B1 thread ) ; these Jfets are easy to find ( made even in ROHS , today ) , and dirt cheap ; you can look at them as on 2SK170V , even at steroids ....

This one can work too. Its not high gm, but it can give decent service. 2N5459 JFET is very cheap and easy to get.
