very good! really still better than F4 in many aspects, but less dynamics! (hi ZenMod:wave2:)

.....

someone called a :djinn:

:rofl:

main differences - in sound - between F4 and B1 bias+output stage are result of dofferences in concept ; while F4 is plain ( :clown: ) follower ....... jumping freely up and down , without real knowledge and difference in what is up and what is down ........ B1 is nothing else than SE buffer .

so - sound is probably sweetened with B1 , while with F4 is more clinic ..... decent , real , precise ..... choose your own term here .

further mumbojumbo from Mighty ZM - say that :Pumpkin: is somewhat sweetened SUSY preamp ( not precise and brutal as full monty 4 quadrant symmetric UGS jobbie ) , tnx to SE outputs and just one LTP in core .... in same time F4 (without input buffer) is as full UGS preamp comparing to :Pumpkin:

taking care in evaluation and comparison that every competitor have same PSU quality :rofl: ...... so - do not compare :Pumpkin: and UGS without using Shunty in both cases ;

do not compare B1 vs. F4 with different PSUs

Generg,
Are you going to put in BA-1 front end, or use pumpie?

I am still in favour of pumpkin.:D But with BA-1 which is a little more sweeter than F4 as ZenMod says the BA-1 front end could be the better choice look here:
http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/pass-labs/150653-burning-amplifier-ba-2-a-21.html

Of course I will also try BA-2! In all combinations and when I have chosen my favorite combination Nelson:cool: will come
-with a new front-end and
-an BA-1 with more power,
-J2 will be published ...
ZenMod will offer new parts and modifications ...........
I am a lucky man, in summer I will retire and have all time to build all these cool things:)

ha, ha ZenMod "P channel tube" that sounds really good and I will look for my old OC 71 to build an SE output!

thanks for your comments, I don´t understand this part:

".... in same time F4 (without input buffer) is as full UGS preamp comparing to pumpkin" :confused:

would you suppose BA-2 is very similar to F4?

Do you understand why BA-2 has only one capacitor c101 to the gates of output devices, while F4 needs two?

hahaha ..... I forgot end of sentence ... or exact meaning of it .......... so - it must be something as :
you can use same logic (regarding euphony in sound ) comparing UGS vs. :Pumpkin: and F4 vs.B1 output stage ; just look which ones are SE and you'll know

......
....

would you suppose BA-2 is very similar to F4?
......

bingo !

( if you means on output stage only

tip :

Papa is teasing ya , intentionally or not ;

naah ..... with just little more thinking - Papa is teasing us ..... always :D

just look at C203 , page 4 of article http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/diyaudio-com-articles/150438-burning-amplifier-ba-2-a.html?garpg=4

it's same in function as in F4 output stage , even if position is slightly changed

o.k. C203 is the missed candidate. I was looking for two similar values like in F4 2 x 220 microfarad.

So Nelson diminished one value to 10 micro (better quality polypropylen) and increased the other one to 1000 micro to avoid the plop when starting the amplifier.

which type of the coupling capacitor do you use for your F4?

black Serbian oil and blood capacitor?

have a good night!

.......I suppose you hear Accuphase, Krell, Sony:Pirate:
.....

I did - overengineered for my liking . even KSA50 is a bit too complex ...... and I don't need that power

....

...

I don´t dare to ask you what you are hearing:ghost:.... in the moment.....:shy:

whatever I trow on my 16R speakers , they sing :spin:

I'm more in researching possibilities with olde speaks lately ; last find is pair of Lorenz LP312 :D

hi cviller,

I forgot one remark on the boards, there is only one ground point, make at least two in the next issue.

when I wrote hear F4 and you begin to dance:spin: I must add, hear BA-1 it´s honey for the heart!:violin:

thank you all for your work I have so much pleasure!

:headbash:BA-1 is really worth the effort!:smash:

I never heard a sound like this in my house.:house: I will try to go for a fourth or six deep output-stage because I am curious what can be done for the dynamics by this.

But it will last a time to get other heat sinks. I was impressed by Peter Daniels vertically builded F5 with huge heat sinks. Such a construction seems me to be good basis for coming events.:)

thanks for the reaction ZenMod

.......... no pumpkin and output-stage!

pumpkin + gainstage + outputstage in the next days.......

is nobody else building Burning Amps?

output stage - yes ;

gain stage - yes ;

but just one , please :rofl:

either original BA1 or :Pumpkin: , but - just one .

too much of good isn't gooder :clown: , but worse

Well, generg, you certainly win one of the prizes for being the first to complete the amp!

especially considering that he also discover the small labeling problem on the gain board..

So he has credit at the diyAudio store for the equivalent of a set of BA-1 or BA-2 boards. This way he is the most likely to build any new gain boards or whatever- even get the new T-shirts when they come out! Just contact me when you want to use the credit, not sure if the store software understands the concept..

Yipheee! I have a credit line!:D

I did not really expect it, because I made no pictures and did not show step by step what I did.
(To be honest:rolleyes:
- I am not good in the mechanical part, rectangular wiring, my holes are seldom round, etc.:eek:
- I am teacher and so happy not to be pedagogical in my holidays and my own affairs:xfingers:)

Your news came in the right moment, I was just depressed. A shortcut when I tried to mount the BA-2 board for the sake of comparison with Ba-1.:(

But nothing serious I suppose.......

Thanks!
