To anyone who has built a Bride of Zen preamp recently :
In BOZ preamp, is it ok to replace TIP29CGE (obsolete) by TIP29CFS ? Seems to have same specs (NPN 100V 1A) but I'm not an expert in parts replacement. Thanks ! Regards, |

Anyone here has tried BOZ with Inverted Gainclone ?
I'd like to hear your comments about this combo and know if there's some issues that I should be aware of. Thanks ! |

Thank you everyone !
I finally finished my Gainclone and Bride of Zen this weekend ! With your precious help, I've been able to overcome problems such as mysteriously blown parts, secondaries voltage too high etc... I also had some troubles such as sound being extremely distorted but I discovered that the 3 chassis should not be in contact together... Grounding problem ? I wish I could make nice enclosures but my blown budget only allowed me to buy some ready-made 1/32" Hammond aluminium case. Well, here's some pictures. Don't worry, its sounds better than it looks. (The blue connector (speakon) cable is the cable between the Power Supply and the Gainclone...) Thanks again everyone ! |

And finally the GainClone Power Supply.
(Added a bunch of 10 000uF caps for a little more punch) |

I'm not exaggerating when I say the inside shots are beautiful.
Obviously a lot of love went into these. I even like the exterior "industrial" look. And I'll bet they sing sweetly! |
