sound quality is overrated thing :devily:

Yeah - with my old ears I can only get out to 16-17K. But I still can zero in on things like phasing and dead spots - hot eq's and stuff like that. It's great if you can hear the diff between nylon or steel strings and foot petal work on the piano and so on - but most of the time I'm just chilling and listing to the tunes and not bothered with the stuff that can drive ya nuts if you let it.

Jacco will help ya with translation/broader historic context - he's already annoying me with his knowitall yadayada

Fook Yoo, od djoka mu nista ne rodilo !
(ona je lepa ca sandale)

yadayada .

translation (to ZMengrish) is something as :

"oh no , Albert ....

you stole even sandals from her ...... "

"her" is Mileva Maric-Einstein

You got to try Pulse on 180g Vinyl
got the CD one as whell but on that I can not hear nail scratching guitar string noise

Welllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll right now I am missing one of those turntable thingy's so would need to use sewing needle from wife's kit and a paper cup. The wife would be really pissed about me messing up one of her needles too!!!:eek::eek:

I'm playing around with a design for a DIY TT - but typical for me what started out as slapping some old used stuff together to clone something like the Altman TT is turning into a project to clone something more like a $5K TT. And then there is the cartridge and arm stuff. Keeps both of my brain cells happy tho because they get bored playing the mental equivalent of "Pong" (from Atari daze).

Duz anyone know if those oil free plastic bearings are worth a crap for TT's- or should I just stick with the tried and true leaky bronze things???

My set up is not that good at present RPM4 (just piece of chip board with another piece of chip board that spin on a "bearing" with Ac motor
arm is decent enoug but I have revired the thing for balanced with silver vires.
I am using Elitte as MC needle
the rest is all good fun and work in progress.
Got very decent Sallas Simplistic as MC RIIA.

Even with this poor (RPM4) set up difference between black and silver disc is there
.
Why not get same cheap maybe second hand spinner and sart from there.
If jou get the taste for it upgrade way is endless.

I've been keep eyes open for nice old Thorens or Lenco to steal things off of. The big problem is budget. Doing the basic TT is not so much a problem - the tonearm and cart are the problem.

Still - to address the tonearm - there are some pretty decent DIY projects to be had there - including some on here with Nanook's arrow shaft thingy and those would be a good place to begin for a "start".

With me being me I will wind up with something using UFO technology to fashion a linear tracker floating free in space and hooked up directly into audio neurons in nogg'n - but I think I will start out on the traditional paths 1st.

Toss on something like a decent AT or Denon 103 and should come out reasonable enough I think.

Here is a little taste of what I'm thinking - I have about a billion photo's of other people's ideas and projects - to many to list here - I would need a new thread - perhaps a new website!!!

Having Papa pick on you like that - tsk-tsk what a shame!!!!:cool::cool:

Sold the 401 - I know sum people that would burn you at the stake for such a thing - but we all gotta do what we gotta do!!

That one look's a bit like an EMT of some flavor - but it isn't that. Most likely some old rusty piece of Ruskie tank motor or something like that. Buuuuuuuuut it looks very, very nice!!! Me like!!! Well - of course would have to flip it upside down and take a look at main bearing and motor and stuff like that just to make sure that it is not some sorta clone thingy with knock off parts. Send it over to me for a check out and I will let you know what I think!!! (sucker):D:D:D

Looks like nice #2 unit to left too. Where are web shots hidden at??? I need some more TT porn to look at!!!
