double distillation ; washing with plain water and just once a year ( before the season) distillation of , say , 20L of water with added/diluted caustic soda

Really helps smooth it out if you circulate it through 10m of 5cm round pipe, filled with activated carbon, a few times. Not that I know anything, I just heard, ya know?
