I am sure the D1 will sound great being fed by a shuntreg. I will probably have one up and running this week with a Toolereg. It will give a pointer towards what can be expected from the Shinyy/D1 combo.

After having been testing the D1 I/V with a Toole shuntreg , I am convinced that the shunt is great for this application. Noise is just as good as the LM317/337 supply (virtually non to speak of), but the sound is a little better. Its not like day and night, but the Shuntreg will stay in my DAC. It brings a tad more clarity. The shunt is similar to this one (only dualrail )

Play chain is; ZenV9 setup as currentsource-amp, B1 buffer also fed by a Toolereg, and a TDA1541 DAC. The Zen never sounded better, than with the B1 fed by a shuntreg.

I have my Pass D1 I/V up and running on the bench and have a few questions.

I tried to adjust the inputs down to 0 volt but it's drifting quite a bit.

How much voltage (drifiting) is allowed at the input?

Did you match the 610 ?

Hi Yunick. Did you connect anything else than the psu, while adjusting? If you did, try to disconnect everything else.

No nothing was connected while adjusting..

I exchanged all irf610 to matched ones, but no difference.

Could it be that I used 2.2nf instead of 2.7nf? 2.7nf are on order, but I couldn't resist trying with what I had on hand..

Check your resistors - last month I had 3 Vishay-Dales marked as 100 Ohm but after measurment they were 1Kohm.

Check your solder joints.....!

Yunick, did you use the latest schematic in post 103, when populating the boards? There was a few mistakes with the resistor values in the earlier versions.

I buildt four channels and they all measure the same. So there must be some part that I overlooked. If it's not the caps..


Steenoe. When you adjusted yours, was it rock solid at 0V? did you se any drift or small offset with time/temp?
