Hello,
I had build a clone of the Aleph P version 1.7 with WIMA MKP4 10u coupling caps. What I want to know is the original type of coupling caps which are used in the original / commercial design of the Aleph P. Has anyone this informations? Thanks for your help. Ralph |

Hi Ralph,
the original caps are Panasonic polyester types - series ECQ-E(F). You can find them by digikey - part number EF1106-ND. Your used Wima MKP should be a better choice with lower losses - only disadvantage is the bigger size! Regards Dirk |

Hi Ralph,
A while ago (maybe about a year) there was a thread about coupling caps in an Aleph Preamp and I joined in the discussion at that time. If you do a search, you should find this, and it may be of some help to you. Regards,

Thanks for the reply.
I start working on a Aleph P clone in 2004 and I read nearly everything about how to build it. But what I don't know up to now was the type of the original coupling caps. The Panasonics can't be so bad, NP also use them in the X0 preamp. Regards Ralph |

...not only the X0...
also BZLS, X160, X200 and all XA.5 amplifiers... The information for the digikey part number comes from the BZLS article. The only dealer I can find for them in germany is digikey. Easier is to order Vishay/BCComponents series 468 by farnell (farnell number: 1166121). They are quite the same as the Panasonics with same dimensions, grid and electric strength (only the color is more orange than redbrown :-) ). I use them in the BZLS. Regards Dirk |
