I came across two surplus heatsinks I'd like to use for my Aleph 5 project but being a complete novice at this I have to somehow guess (estimate?) if these will do the job. If any Aleph veterans out there would like to offer their opinions I'd be more than happy to listen.
These heatsinks are 13 inches long, 6 inches wide, and the total height is 3 inches. The flange thickness at the base of the fins is .5" Regards, Dan

Hello,
Here below are the some datas about the heatsink that is very similar to yours. Hopeing that it will help you. I think that your heatsink would be barely enough for the one channel. Try to construct the enclosure with the tick metal sides and thermaly couple them with the heatsinks, so they can also take some of the heat. Hello,
I have nearly same like you, my Heat sink is 12 inch long 4 inch wide and 3 inch height in fin depth 1 heat sink have 8 fin per 1 heat sink. Both 2 sample have 20 and 17 fin per heatsink that diff. to our sink. From your pic. 10 fin per 6 inch and mine 8 fin per 4inch wide that very close each other. From my test by small Zen my heatsink is 0.67 degree/w and I also plan to make Aleph 5 like you I use 4 Heat sink Per chanel. My country is so hot average temp about 27-30 celcius, so I suppose my operate temp is about not over 55 degree Celcius. May be this can be for your information. Pradit P. |
