Hi Arold,

the first question you must answer is, how much power output did I need? it is depending from your speakers, in my case I use Tannoy 15 inches speakers, they have a high efficiency, 96dB for a 1watt, so the 2X30w of an Aleph3 is quiet enough, now why an Aleph 3 and not the 30, there are two reasons for me, first , Mr Pass said we have to put fire on the output device, more current better the result, the Aleph3 has 4 output devices and 6 for the Aleph30,,so on the Aleph3 each device has a higher current, the second reason was an article I read about the Aleph3 at this link:

George, if you read this post have a look on it.
Arold, if you search on the Pass Labs I think you can find posts about the Aleph30 or else.

Best regards.

The output mosfet of the original Aleph30 are not IRF244, But in the circuit I found on the PASSLABS site, It is the IRF244 ???

What is the original output device for the Aleph30 ?

thank you

I'm quite sure the original output devices are IRF244. The most obvious reason is that the service manual says so and the second clue would be the phrase used by Mr Pass (not a quote) "I have a whole warehouse full of them".

Why don't you think they were IRF244?

Hi Arold,

yes there are different packages for the same device, I have bought IRFP244 from IR, they are TO247 isolated plastic, the original Aleph3 had IRF244S I think it was TO3, the TO3 is an old package I am not sure you can find it today, have a look at this link:
Vhttp://www.chipdocs.com/pnsearch/search.html?ReR=GG
or at International Rectifier, you can find there the datasheet for all devices.

Regards.

Yonnat.
