Do I have always a worsening of performance driving an unbalanced power amp with the unbalanced output of the Aleph P?
In other words: it is really better to use that preamp with balanced power amps?

Balanced operation has the usual merits as more gain and less noise, less cable issue hassles, plus virtues related to ground return.

But balanced operation also has a different harmonic distribution pattern than unbalanced (single-ended) operation.
If you like the sonic signature of balanced mode, it's balanced operation all the way.

Yeah . . .
Balanced operation is more with 3rd harminics while the unbalanced is more with 2nd harmonics. By the way, Papa says that surprisingly many people like 3rd harmonics against traditional 2nd harmonics known as preferable.
