little trannies looking for amp

Hi All,

I got a cpl of nice looking little trannies 9/24v 27/72 va (for cheap). And it looks like too much and not enough. To much for sewa/mini-a and not enough for aleph-30. Could you help me with the choice some little nice sounding amp

You might go to Google and do a search on 'trannies' -- I think you will be surprised by the results.

In fact it's quite different from what you obtain on this forum. Will ask google to correct this bug.

Was thinking about, the use on aleph-30 down sized to one pair of output devices. Any suggestions ?

You would then have a Mini-A. The transformers you have are too small for this application.

mini-a takes 12v/30va, 24v/72va is even more.

For a Mini-A, I would not go lower than 225VA, for Aleph 30 (stock) I wouldn't go lower than 400VA. Have a look HERE , to see how others have done it.

How many of these trafos do you have? Are they center-tapped 12v-0-12v?

those are a bit small for a power amp -- I like to use a trafo rated at 4X the required VA.

Might make a nice aleph-P or a jfet BZLS. (Mine uses 30V secondaries, which is plenty).

In principle, you can build a smaller Mini-A by using lower rails, but the distortion will be somewhat higher.
