Default First Watt + transformerless ribbon speaks

Hi All

Has anybody had a try at driving transformerless ribbon speaks directly with any of the First Watt offerings?

I know a brief mention was made somewhere by Nelson trying this with promising results. -but that from memory was basically the limit of the comment.
Has anything further been attempted in this regard,
How does the F-1 typically enjoy being run intio essentially a short circuit for extended periods?

Many thanks in advance for any comments

Cheers
George

IMHO the FW products so far are limited by there output current
in this regard. The experiments we did were with amplifiers
capable of very much higher currents, as we found ourselves in
the 10 to 20 A category driving ribbons directly.

@ 10 - 20 Amps that's starting to smell like a fusible link that vibrates!

Thank you for your responses Gentlemen.

Sounds like I'd better continue with trying to put balanced inputs on my arc welder..
