Default Ono PSU

I'm in the finishing stages of my two Ono's I've been working on for quite some time - I need to make the PCBs for the PSUs.
There are two versions on the net, one based on the original one with FET regulator, and an LM317 based verison. Any preferences of the two??

How much overvoltage do the FET regulator need? I have actually never used a FET regulator before......
I have some 28V toroids stashed away somewhere - just can't find them right now, and several 24V versions right at hand......
A 24 V tooroid with light load should easily deliver 34-35V.....

I think you need Vds to be at least 5V if you use the FET
regulator. Your 28 V toroids should do the trick... the 24V
toroids, not so much.

I've not got my PS tested yet but the schematic shows almost a
10V drop across the FET.

Since there is a low-pass filter between the regulator and
the amp circuits, I can't see that using an LM317 is going to
make much difference at all. But I have no experience with it.
