Hello all,
Further to the previous thread about my Pass Labs X150's power down thump, I am thinking to use a Jensen Isomax to convert the RCA to balanced XLR. It is an expensive transformer indeed about $200. I don't know if it is a worthwhile solution for the problem. ALso, is it going to degrade the audio signal, my biggest concern? Btw, my X150 has no more power down thump if I connect my cd player directly to the amp. I figure it is the DC from my denon causing the problem. I think my X150 is the early production which doesn't have capacitors on the input to prevent DC offset from upstream. Thanks all Kelvin |

Why not just put a couple caps at the input and see if it solves your problem? You probably won't even hear it if you use decent ones.
edit: You might still have a small pop but it should be harmless, assuming it's DC that is the issue......

Transformer is better solution than cap for coupling (especially if it is comming from Jensen), but it is also more expensive.

Jensen makes a very fine transformer. Using it provides a
DC connection to ground that you probably were missing. |
