Mini Aleph Questions

Hi, I have a few 12.6V Hammond transformers lying around (this one http://www.alliedelec.com/Search/Pr...R=836-6075&sid=46D9FD004ECC617F&tab=specs#tab ). Would these be suitable in making Mini Alephs? And I don't know how to make the power supply section. Does anyone have the schematics for them? Any help would be appreciated

The current is a bit low, but if you use the mini-a schematic as is, it might be just enough. The mini-a as is runs around 1 amp. Use 1 transfo for each channel.

This should work, but like vdi_nenna said, id use one per channel.

actually looks like 2 per channel, 4 total, since each is 12.6. one per rail per channel. if tried just 2 at one per rail, would take a beating and likely sag down to 12-13 volts.

Hi,

The voltage looks low. The 12.6 V centre-tapped
transformer will give you around +/- 8VDC rails. This
is too low for an Aleph.

What you can try is to discard the centre tap and use
two transformers to generate the +/- rails. That
should get you around +/- 16V DC.

The current capacity of the transformers isn't that high
so you may find that running two channels off this
one pair of transformers will cause the transformers
to get too hot. If that's the case, you can use another
pair for the second channel.
