I’m planning to build an Aleph 2, and have a few questions:
Will I need a lager heatsink, or will it develop more heat, if I run the amp in 4 Ohm instead of 8 Ohm? Will a transformer rated 1000VA be enough if I want the amp to run in pure class A at 4 Ohm? Best regards /loovet |

The load does not affect the power supply requirements. And a 1000VA transformer will be fine, 600VA minimal.

Hi all
I have a simular case. I plan to push 4ohm speakers with my Aleph. I plan to use 8 output devices per rail (IRFP240) and decrease 1 ohm resisters to .8 (or whatever I can find around that). I'll also decrease output resistors the same proportional ammount. (I haven't checked all of the math or if my sinks(in the mail) can dissapate the heat. If any of the resident gurus could comment we 4 ohmers would be greatful I'm sure. PS my transformers are 60vct 20a. |
