Please I need some help to decide which power-amp/preamp is most suitable for me. My first and last Pass design amp. was A-20 (published in AUDIO 1977).I built this amp 14 y. ago. I said first and last because it is still working without mistake . The problem begins a year ago when I have heard , for the first time , my friend`s original PASS X250 and Aleph 5 power amp. on Apogee loudspeakers and Bohlender-Grabener diY loudspeakers with "open baffle" bass design. Apogee speakers (with "normal" bass drive) I bought , but now I need more power. As it is not affordable for me to buy X250 or A5 I have decided to build a new PASS amplifier. My idea is to built Aleph P1.7 preamp and Aleph 5 or Aleph 60 power amplifier. I need some suggestion what to choose. Only missing thing for me is A60 service manual which I can not find on forum. Can somebody help me with this details . All suggestions are welcome.
Thank you. Alex |

If you are running Apogees and need more power, probably
the most appropriate DIY that I have done is the A75, and I recommend that for the time being.

Mr. Pass . thank you for the prompt reply. I was "afraid" to mention A75 because I am thinking it is too big "monster" for me. You are 100% right and it is not necessary to explain me your suggestion. I was just hoping that I can "pass through" with A5 or A60 or , at least with A2.
You are really "one and only" Alex |
