Default Aleph 1.7 preamp PCB layout.

Please note that this post is with the kind permission of “kk-pcb design” and that this re-configuration is in no way associated with kk-pcb.

I recently purchased from this supplier this PCB.

Whilst the board is very well made, unfortunately if did not suit the components I wished to use, and those that I already had. Predominantly the passive devices.

I reconfigured the board as a single channel only, and made some alterations to the connecting wiring, header configuration, and several components placement.

Please feel free to use for your DIY purposes of you wish.

Regards,
George.

Hi,

i am really interested in your layout!

Looks good to me... Is it possible to get the schematic you used, to create this layout?

Hi George,
no offense meant, but I think there are better P1.7 boards around. Yours suffers a little from veeery long signal lines. Personally, I like the Veteran approach best, this is a very short and effective design. You might easily scale it for bigger passive components if needed.

Hi Holger.
Thank you very much for your comments. I must agree that I to am a little concerned about the signal track lengths. I wanted to keep it simple, and work with what I already had, rather than starting from scratch.

I took a look at the layout that you have noted, and it is definately more compact, and can be eaisily scaled to fit larger components.

Anyway, I will proceed with my boards, and see how it goes. Its all learning for me.

PS: Are there any problem that you envisage as a result of the long track lengths?
Also, if noise pick up is a problem, could it be alleviated with the introduction of a ground plane (ie I can remake the boards on double sided PCB, with a top copper shield).

I would appreciate your comments.

Regards,
George.
