I am looking for something better than the standard LM317/337 types regulators, something high ripple rejection, low noise, low output impedance, basically something really fancy. Cost NOT an issue at all. OK if only positive versions are available. High current output (1.5 to 5 amps) a double plus. Thanks!

If price is no object, roll your own -- the Super Regulator schematics are all over the web.
If you want to purchase from Digikey, the Linear Tech LT1085, LT1086, LT1083. If you are up for some imagination, the Linear Tech LT1761 is a 20uV noise regulator which will drive 100mA -- use this with an external pass device. You can get pretty good performance from the LM317's by bypassing the adjust pin, and using a "clean-up" circuit on theoutput. |

I think you would like trying ALW super-regs:
http://www.alw.audio.dsl.pipex.com/jung_schematic.htm And a worthy mod: http://www.pinkfishmedia.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=21574 I imagine Shunt regulators from Tentalbs must be good (I don't know as I have not received mine yet )http://www.tentlabs.com/Products/cdu...unt/index.html As dear Jackinnj said LM317 can sound good with a good bypass on ADJ. I tried BG 22uF (FK?) and it really helped cleaning up the power. I would like to know what "clean-up" circuit would that be Regards, M

Grateful, Jackinnj.
At first sight (amateur sight), it has some resemblance with ALWSR. Regards, M
