OK, so when I read a dual op amp spec sheet, and it lists "absolute max ratings", and says +/-10mA supply current, is that for the entire DIP package (2 opamps) or is that per opamp? Part in question is NE5532. Thanks!

If the spec says "per channel", it's per channel. If there's no such qualification, it's total.
10 mA total for a 5532 strikes me as about right. |

It is very, very unusual to list supply current under absolute max ratings. Are you sure you read it correctly? Wasn't it absolute max input current or something similar? Jan Didden Edit: Just checked it. It doesn't say 10mA max supply current. It says 10mA max input current. Supply current is 8mA typ, 16mA max for the two.
