Default DC Step-up IC

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knew of any really simple to use IC's that could step-up a 3.3v to about 8v and handle around 1a of current or more?

The best I can find is the LM2623AMM, but it needs a fair few external components. I would like something as simple as possible to do the job if there is such a thing?!

Suggestions appreciated. Even if you just tell me such a thing doesn't exist

I want it because I have an unregulated 3.3v line that I want to regulate. So I need to step it up and then regulate it back to 3.3v lol. No other way I can see of doing it, unless there is some wonderful regulator that will manage to regulate 3.3v and not drop more than o.3v?

Thanks

Why would you want to step up the voltage with a DC-DC just to regulate it back down with a linear reg? Just use a regulated DC-DC with 3.3v output.

Since it is designed to 'step-up', will it not dislike having the same voltage on the input as I ask it to output?

Thanks for the link though. I guess it will work just fine
