I am looking for a one-stop shop for diy audio components, parts, etc. I hate having to order from 3-4 different places and stacking up my shipping costs. Does such a place exist?
Someplace that sells: Caps (all types related to audio) Resistors Diodes Op Amps You know, everything... I am talking other than Part Connexion btw. They do not have the caps (Elna Cerafine or Wima Film) that I want. As well as a pretty crappy selection of every other electronic component. Preferably a place with reliable shipping/customer service. Thanks. |

Holly Grail is, well, a legend so it doesn´t exist. It happens that we diyers share some components that are oriented mostly to the industrial market and diy audio shops don´t care about these ones. So you must at least order from two shops. Maybe this can help you: THL seems to have the larger list, but is located in Asia (higher shipping costs) http://www.thlaudio.com/indexE.htm DK, IBS and Mouser may have op amps and are industrial suppiers http://www.digikey.com/digihome.html http://www.mouser.com/index.cfm?handler=home http://www.ibsstore.com/scripts/prod...ield_sortorder Michael Percy is diyaudio specialist and I am happy buying from him http://www.percyaudio.com/ There´s some europeans too: Elfa, Schuro, Borbely Audio and Intertechnik. Regards

Couldn't resist.
On this side there are a few places that get close to fitting the bill. But ordering from several vendors and/or ordering abroad often turns out cheaper. Good odds that i rank in the top 10 in this club of longest track customers of a big number of the familiar places, top 3 of shopping at the highest number of shops around the globe. Even when i add the ridiculous import fees it's often cheaper to order parts abroad, i sometimes buy components for 1/5th or less of what i'd pay for them overhere. Buying abroad is likely to be a lot more expensive for you, without even counting taxes and mailing costs, i'm viewing Canada as local. There doesn't seem to be much competition similar parts count wise in your neck of the woods, components that can be ordered from Mouser are not sold by DK and vice versa. A number of other vendors sell boutique parts, and you've got a very favorable high quality NOS parts market. imo, where you live you're much better off ordering from several parties, even with added mailing costs.

Well whenever I need some Parts and don"t want to spend much cash I usually go on to e-bay.....
I know of quite a few great sellers that have a Huge Stock of many electronics Parts and at about 10% what I pay retail.... I have no problems finding Good quality Caps (like Wima or other Poly,Mylar,Metalfilm ect caps) and the shipping is allways reasonable..... I can give you a few E-bay seller addresses of poeple I have delt with and give good deals and have a good stock..... CHeers |

Minion, I'd like that. I sent you an e-mail, I don't know if it worked or not. Argh, I wish this forum had a PM system.
