Is there some sort of product that would allow you to connect a wire from the headphone port of a computer or cd player, etc. and have multiple ports for connecting other jacks (i.e. multiple speakers from the same source. I need some sort of setup like this. Basic equipment connected to basic speakers using basic wires. It would be some sort of go-between box.
I've drawn (very poorly) a mockup. It's the attatched file. Please help me. |

Hi,
No, there isn't a device to do what you show. There are solutions but all of them need at least a power amplifier. You can use 70V or 100V transformer coupled speakers but these are usually low quality and designed for public address rather than domestic audio distribution. Where are these speakers going?

The speakers don't need to be very high quality. They'll be in a haunted house. (By the way, I'm kind of a newbie at thos stuff)

So we have until October to figure this out?
You can do it with a regular stereo amplifier/receiver provided you want all the speakers at the same volume and you run them in groups of series and parallel to maintain your overall impedance. Mind you, it makes for a lot of wire so using the 70V public address method Andrew mentioned makes sense. How far away are they going to be from the amp and how many speakers in total? |

The distance may vary. In some cases, it may be 2-6 speaker sets for a certain segment, and in others, it may be many speakers linked together to provide the master volume for the house. Also, because of this, the distance from the amp may vary. (I know I'm not being very helpful right now

Maybe you could use a little FM transmitter, and put FM radios where you need speakers?

That might work in some areas, but many may be too close and have signal overlap. That could be one of the methods used, though.

Does anyone know of any other methods that might work effectively, because as I said in the previous post, fm transmitters might work in some areas, but for most of the house, I'll need some other solution. Thanks to all who have helped me so far!

Where would I find something like that? (Thank you very much for the suggestion, it's just that I'm not much of an audio person, so I'm not familiar with the terms or equipment)
