Old sony mini hifi plays CD in random. What gives?

Hi,
Cleaning the storage room, I discovered my old sony mini hifi MHC-1600. Bought in 1992 at Magnolia HiFi in Beaverton, OR.
After a very long hibernation, it fired up OK.
Radio is working.
The CD player is a different story. The first 2-3 songs is working normally, after that it begins to skip and searching - randomly moving forward.
I cleaned the lazer lense (?) but thaat doesn't help.
Anyone can tell me what's going on with my old junk

Spindle Motor.

At full speed (first track) the motor works great. As the motor is spun down, it starts to mistrack the servo and sends the laser head speeding down the disc. Replace the motor.

Some dirty teeths creating trouble. Just cleanup the gears.
