What would you recommend as a replacement for NE5534N in a preamp?

See question above, would like to upgrade an existing preamp. Am thinking about either OPA2134 or OPA2604 since I have good stock of both. What else would you recommend, and would you recommend one over the other?

NE5534A is a single amplifier.
The devices you mentioned are dual amplifiers. They won´t work.
So look for OPA134, OPA604 or OP176. But circuits using 5524 at low gains also contains 22pF compensation capacitors.
Analog Devices mention the OP176 as an upgrade for the 5534. According to the datasheet the capacitor won´t harm in most cases. But ADI recommend to remove the 22pF.

OPA134 pin 5 and OPA604 pin 8 are open (no internal connection) so the 5534 compensation capacitor should not cause problems. You could also build dual-to-single adapters to use your OPA2134, OPA2604 but it's probably more trouble than it's worth.

God I feel dumb, I also have a good supply of OPA134's, not quite enough, but will only have to buy a few. I think that's the way I'll go, thanks.

very good for replacing the opamp NE5534 is OP27 or
OPA-134 AP. The OPA 2134 is a double of the OPA-134.

Thats not a Q I was expecting from the heart of the U S and A (Borrat term).

I saw my 4 opa2227 samples landed today in JHB, should mean delivery by monday... allready laid out PCB for the parallel circuit in the datasheet... It will be a headphone amp for an old friend...
