Default Electronics Basics

Hi. Just a post about making sure I'm moving in the right direction...
I have some basic knowledge of electronics (components, ohm's law, etc.), all self-taught. I am into audio (2-way active XO setup w/ subwoofer) and playing guitar. Some projects I was interested in completing (which put me on this mission to learn more) are installing an adjustable bias in my 5150 amp, and building a DIY amp from 41hz.com.
After some searching through the forum, I find that everyone (and even their mothers!) would recommend "The Art of Electronics" book. So I'll be ordering that soon enough. I've also started reading http://www.ibiblio.org/obp/electricCircuits/ which seems to have a large amount of information.
I've also found that I may need a few new toys. I have a soldering iron, solder, drill w/ bits, but seems like I will end up needing an oscilloscope and some other more advanced things when the time comes.
I also found a link for building a "Pocket Amplifier" (http://tangentsoft.net/audio/cmoy-tutorial/), which seems like it could be an easy way to get started, but still go section by section learning how and why the parts are used.
I'm definately interested in doing some hands-on experiments with electronics and reading books to gain theoretical, but more importantly, applyable information.
Any comments, books worth reading, basic projects that I could play with in order to learn, etc. woudl be highly appreciated beyond what I've already found. Of course, I'll keep searching and trying stuff out.
