I've got a pair of Cardas rhodium of copper short binding posts. I'm having difficulty getting my speaker wire sticking to it. At very best it's extremely messy. I've read on some techniques on soldering difficulties. Does anyone have any technique they use for these Cardas binding Posts ? Any help would be much appreciated.

Anybody ? Any ideas ? I've usually opted for cheaper binding post and have had no problems, but these things are harder to solder than to pieces of copper with a lighter

Try sanding the post a bit, then solder.

yeah i'll probally end up having to do that. I already ground one post to the copper in a small spot, but still no luck. I guess I'll have to solder a little harder. Maybe if I increase the soldering temp more ? I'm not sure

Hey audioaction I'm not to much of an expert on the subject, but a friend told me he always had a hard time soldering those binding posts. He said it would be pretty ugly, but he would cover the whole mess up with heat shrink tubing. You could always arc weld it

You need 40W soldering iron set to 800 F. When solder flows well, there is no problem soldering those posts. Also, loosen the nuts.

O.K. I finally got it. I sanded the post just a little bit and then soldered them with a friends 40w iron. The one a I had was just a cheap radioshack model. ( I did loosen the nuts, just not in the manner Sonusthree was recommending.)

Those binding posts are just a pain. I took them out and put in just regular ones and all is well now. I don't think the hub of fidelity hinges on those things anyway.
