i bought a SMPS to use with a small class D amp i am building, the power supply is from a laptop and it's like the 2.1mm connectors but larger and non-standard. i wanted something with panel mounting and gate the idea about the running a wire into the box. any ideas? i'm afraid a small 2.1mm connector won't be good enough for 14V at 4AMPs

I'm using standard Neutrik XLR plug and chassis. The specs say good up to 15amps. Very tight, foolproof connection.
